Kudos - this is amazing.

This is by far one of the best Doom TC I've ever seen.

Excellent and tons of fun. You capture the essence of the Castlevania NES Game.

Will be writing a post about this on the website as one of the top Doom mods of all time.

Such a beautiful game, I honestly can't wait to play more of this! Doing a full series on this as soon as Halloween is over! Love everything about this game, definitely gonna try out the 3rilogy expansion as well!

Thank you very much! Please do keep in mind though that I have nothing to do with 3rilogy, and while I appreciate people making addons for my works, they don't represent the original game whatsoever and your experience might differ with those.

Ahh, good to know! Thanks!

What a blast! I love this mod so far. The weapons all feel fantastic. I love that you've incorporated the verticality of the Castlevania games into this!

is there a way to do coop with this hack?

Can you make an extra easy mode cause I'm just terrible at this but love it

What is that humming song played between levels?

Konami Kukeiha Club - Simon's Theme

I love this but am dying quite a bit due to seemingly no healing items? I'm not a big Castlevania fan, so I guess I'm missing something to do with the 100 hearts I've collected?

(+2)

In Castlevania, hearts are ammo for the subweapons, to heal yourself, whip suspicious looking cracked brick walls to find health items.

I see a lot of people posting their vids in the comments so I thought what the hell, why not.

Also I loved this mod so much. So much fun to play

Pretty cool, I also downloading your GZP.T., I liked you polished game. Pretty good and thanks to borrow some happiness to us. Greetings from Brazil.

This is amazing! Really polished and plays well and true to Castlevania. I haven't gotten too far yet, but I'm going to play this on Coop. I'm working on some code changes tweak the balance a bit for multiplayer, giving more item drops based on # of players / etc.

Absolutely love this! I made a quick video on the first level

I love the existence of this mod with all my heart.

Played it with no issues yesterday but today gzdoom is using 95% of my CPU to run? Has anyone encountered this issue before with this wad?

I deleted the gzdoom, reinstalled it, put simons destiny back into the folder and its fine now. Bizarre.

Ran regular doom fine. Not sure what in the settings caused simons destiny to suck up all my cpu today.

You can also use the affinity settings in task manager to force the game to use less of your CPU. if you run into this issue again or even on other applications.   If you don't know how, open the task manager, find the game, right click and choose "go to details", on that screen you right click on the process and click "set affinity", and it will give you a checklist with all your processor threads listed...try unchecking one or two of the boxes (usually two threads per processor core).  You will have to do this each time you run the game...if you uncheck too many, you may experience lag.

Ok, thanks!

Hello. I am trying to get this to work on a retro built. What is the oldest version of gzdoom that this will run on? And are there any alternatives to gzdoom? all that said would you consider making this work on something that can run on winxp or older? @batandy

I have try to play it with freedom (a gzdoom fork for android...) but it have some mod file called pk3 and not ipk3... Pk3 its wad file? How to play it with freedo.m?

(1 edit)

use gzdoom and load it as an iwad. ZDL may help you with that.

How do you enter the door?

press e

There's a way to convert it to prboom .wad format? To play it on retroarch ?

VERY AWESOME LOVE IT :) !

Hey guys, I'm having a real issue trying to install GZDoom on my Macbook. I got v4.5.0 and for Apple so I think I'm using the right application. When I try to install, I get the following:

MacBookAir7,2 running macOS Big Sur 10.16.0 (20C69) 64-bit Intel

M_LoadDefaults: Load system defaults.

Execution could not continue.

Cannot find a game IWAD (doom.wad, doom2.wad, heretic.wad, etc.).

Did you install GZDoom properly? You can do either of the following:

1. Place one or more of these wads in ~/Library/Application Support/gzdoom/

2. Edit your ~/Library/Preferences/gzdoom.ini and add the directories

of your iwads to the list beneath [IWADSearch.Directories]

Does anyone have any idea what's happening here or what I should do to correct this? Sorry, not super technical unfortunatly.

Thanks for any help I can get here! This game looks amazing and the nostalgia is through the roof for me here!

(+1)

Follow what the error prompt said except you place Simon's Destiny in that path.

(+1)

Thank you Sir! Again, job well done! Like WOW! Nostalgia through the rooooof here!

(+1)

So...hearts are for your secondary weapons...how do we heal then? I went through most of the first level and never saw a shred of health anywhere.

(+4)

gotta find the secret wall meat by whipping the wall just like classic castlevania. If certain wall textures look different it's probably got some meat in there

I can't choose different weapons in inventory. If I pick up a new one, I'm stuck with until next new item. Mouse wheel or number keys, nothing.

(+4)

That's how Castlevania works!

Love it! So much so that I livestreamed it out of a whim to my friends and they were all really impressed with the mod. It's quite a lot from people who themselves don't play that much. Good job!

I will also use this chance to blatantly share the video. It's in Finnish, so it really is not for everyone.

Thank you for making this!

(+2)

Thanks, this is really neat, but the jumping in this really turns me off. Either the jumps are too short or the platforms are to narrow or far away.

(+1)

everything seemed fine to me. Were you sprint jumping or just walking everywhere? Most gzdoom games have you sprint jumping all the time.

(+2)

Enable Always run, press F1 for a quick setup guide to make sure you're playing the game correctly.

Gave it a Let's Play, pretty cool!

About how long does this take to finish?

Around 3 hours usually, but it can be completed in under a hour if you know what you're doing.

(+1)

Thank you for making what is essentially the Reese's peanutbutter cup of video games. Castlevania and Doom are my favorite video game series of all time, especially the original NES Castlevania's, and you've captured that spirit so perfectly in this mod.

This is so fantastic! I'd love to do custom Castlevania style music for these if you expand or do more! I'm on discord gamercomposer #5669 if you're interested

Batandy, you did god's work with this mod, sir. Everything is just awesome, from the level design, gameplay, weapons, items and enemies adaptation and implementation, secrets, all flawlessly executed.

Can't wait to see more from where this came from!

I generally use Doomsday, is there any way to get it working there instead?

GZDoom only, sorry

How do i use the hearts?????

They are ammo for your secondary weapon (knives/timestop/holy water/axe/etc)

(+1)

This is excellent... having a blast playing it.

(+1)

Just discovered this treasure today, man you made a wonderful job, wow! Thanks for sharing it!!!

(+1)

I love this game so much! Thanks for putting in the hard work all this time to make it come together. I've followed since early on on moddb, and you never cease to impress!

(+6)

Cool! Keep doing it!
